Bhoendradatt Tewarie is Pro-Vice Chancellor of the multi-campus
University of the West Indies and Principal of its St. Augustine Campus
in Trinidad. He is intensely interested in development strategy issues and
the role of education in development. He received his university
education at Northwestern University, University of Chicago and the
Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Tewarie is co-author of a book on
governance in higher education and has published articles and book
chapters on education, literature and culture, trade, investment and other
development issues. He has taught at both undergraduate and graduate
level and has led consultancy projects for multi-lateral institutions as
well as the corporate sector.
Roger Hosein is a lecturer in Economics at the University of the West
Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad, his alma mater, from which he also
graduated with a first class honours degree in Economics. He also
studied at Cambridge University in the UK for his PhD. Dr. Hosein is a
specialist in International Trade who last year published a text book in
Economics for first-year University students and has also published
several articles on economic topics in regional and international journals.
He teaches in the Department of Economics at UWI and at the Graduate
Institute of International Relations.
