Labour Law - Industrial Disputes — Increased Allowances
The Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, by letter dated 21 st October, 1975, in accordance with section 9(4) of the Labour R3lations and Industrial Disputes Act, 1975, referred to the Tribunal for settlement, an Industrial dispute between the Employer and The Public Cleansing Workers employed by the Corporation and represented jointly by the Trade Unions.
The Terms of Reference to the Tribunal were as follows:–
“To determine and settle the dispute between the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation on the one hand and the Public Cleansing Workers employed by the Corporation and represented jointly by the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, the National Workers Union and the Jamaica Association of Local Government Officers on the other hand over a claim submitted on behalf of the workers in respect of night premium, washing and operating allowances.”

This claim is for the payment of a night premium at the rate of 15 cents per hour for work between the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. with effect from 1 st April, 1971. The Tribunal has been informed;
