ALLEN, Rose Mary lectures in sociology and social history at the University of the
Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao; she holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Utrecht.
ALLEYNE, Dillon lectures in economics at the UWI, Mona, Jamaica, and is presently
engaged in a study of migrant remittances.
ARCHER, Carol is the Dean of the Faculty of the Built Environment at the University
of Technology (Jamaica) and obtained her doctorate in political science from the City
University of New York.
BROWN, Mikaila is the founder/director of AOW Consultants Inc. and gained her
Ph.D. in social anthropology from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, New York.

is a former Leverhulme Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Caribbean Studies at the
University of Warwick, UK.
FIGUEROA, Mark is an economist and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the

GORDON-STAIR, Angela is a counselling psychologist and Head of the Counselling
Service of the University Health Centre, the UWI, Mona.
GOULBOURNE, Harry is Professor of Sociology at the London South Bank University.
GRIFFIN, Clifford E. is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the North Carolina
State University, specializing in Caribbean political economy and security issues.
HADEY-SAINT-LOUIS, Marie-Gabrielle was born in Haiti, is currently pursuing a
Ph.D. at the University of Bordeaux, France, and is Head of the Department of
Business and Public Management at the Technological University, Guadeloupe.
HENRY, Frances is Professor Emerita of Anthropology at York University, Toronto.
HICKLING, Frederick W. is Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Community
Health and Psychiatry at the UWI, Mona.
ISHEMO, Amani is Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of the Built Environment at the
University of Technology (Jamaica).
JACKSON, Jason is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology; he has worked as a research economist at the Social and Economic Research
Unit of the Caribbean Development Bank.
