My sincere thanks to a whole host of legal and non-legal people
who wittingly and sometimes unwittingly stimulated, challenged
and encouraged me in the course of writing this book:
Stephen Vasciannie who made it happen.
Eileen Boxhill who gave me the benet of her extraordinary and
extensive knowledge and went out of her way despite numerous
commitments and personal challenges to give shape and meaning
to the text.
Tracy Robinson who at the initiation and conclusion of my writing
provided invaluable and incisive advice and comments.
Lynette Joseph-Brown who was always available with a realistic,
workable perspective as each development arose. Dennis would be
so proud of us.
Then there was: Saverna Chambers, Sherry-Ann McGregor,
Marjorie Shaw, Beverley Bryan, Marlyn Delisser, Janet Daley Powell
of the Supreme Court Library and Debbie Ann Lynch Witter.
A special mention to Dorcas White, Senior Tutor Emerita of the
Norman Manley Law School, for getting me over the last hump and
telling me to ‘Get it to the publishers and let it go!’
Of course it would be remiss of me not to express my gratitude to
the Principal, staff and students of the Norman Manley Law School;
and Christine Randle who believed in my vision and waited patiently
for it to come into being.
Finally to my mother, Lena Bell who at 92 has made it clear that
her only remaining life’s wish is to hold my book in her hands: Here
it is.
