ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sheldon McDonald is currently Project Coordinator of the Caribbean Court
of Justice Preparatory Committee, CARICOM Secretariat. He was formerly
Caribbean Community Lead Negotiator, Negotiating Group on Dispute
Settlement, Free Trade of the Americas and is Deputy Permanent
Representative of Jamaica to the International Seabed Authority. Prior to joining
CARICOM he held a series of senior advisory posts and served as Special
Adviser to the Attorney General of Jamaica and also to the Minister of Foreign
Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica. He has also served as a member of several
Jamaican Delegations at International meetings and in negotiating a wide
range of Bilateral treaties. Mr. McDonald’s expertise in Law of the Sea and
related issues is acknowledged nationally, regionally and internationally as is
his expertise in International Dispute Resolution and International Trade Law
(including the GATT, Competition Law, Investment, Intellectual Property
and Services), the Law of International Institutions, International Human
Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law and State and Organizational
Immunities. He has also written widely in these areas.
